Distractors Overview¶
Distractors are the NPCs that pull you away from your tasks. There are 10, each embodying a way to procrastinate. They don't attack — they capture your attention and drag you to a distraction room until a teammate frees you.
The five stats¶
Like classes, distractors are rated 1–5 per stat, mapping to concrete values:
| Stat | What it does | Rating 1 → 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Chase walk speed | 6 → 24 |
| Detection | How far it can spot you (studs) | 6 → 16 |
| Charisma | Pull strength — higher captures you faster | 20 → 60 |
| Distract Time | How long it holds you (seconds) | 20 → 60 |
| Targets | How many players it holds at once | 1 / 1 / 1 / 2 / 3 |
Targets is a rating, not a count. A Targets rating of 4 = 2 simultaneous holds; rating 5 = 3; everything 1–3 holds just one.
How a capture works (two stages)¶
Getting distracted happens in two separate steps — see Distraction and Detection for the full detail:
- Capture build-up — while the distractor holds line-of-sight on you, a meter fills. Higher Charisma fills it faster; higher player Awareness slows it. Break line-of-sight and it resets.
- Distraction hold — once the meter fills, you're held for the distractor's Distract Time (reduced by your Recovery and Meditation) until a teammate rescues you or it expires.
Tiers and difficulty¶
Distractors come in four tiers, and which ones appear depends on the level's NPC difficulty:
- Basic — appear on Easy levels only.
- Slow — can appear on Easy, Medium, and Hard.
- Elite — appear on Medium and Hard.
- Boss — appear on Hard only.
They also spawn across three Waves: Channel Surfer leads (Wave 1); most fill Wave 2; the Elites and Bosses arrive in Wave 3.
